VOTE DR KOLAWOLE AS RESIDENT OF THE YEAR
SR awon boys”, Dr Olajide Kolawole is a man of many parts, is your typical “go to” resident if you need a favor, if you’re in some academic trouble or you need an advice causing your own trouble. A former President of the association of resident doctors gives you a listening ear, anytime, anywhere you meet him. What really amazes me about him is the amount of student names he has committed to memory, he calls every student by their first name with a degree of affection only seen in close pals or relatives. His connection to students is second to none and even when he’s angry with you for not doing your work, the anger barely lasts 5 minutes. A politician, scholar, and friend, vote Dr Kolawole of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology as resident of the year.

VOTE DR ODETAYO AS RESIDENT OF THE YEAR
The loaded registrar oozes class, who won’t like him, just joining the train here, looks, money, stuff, e dey. The Dr who reinforces the popular belief that a Lagos Dr is usually unique and it is the place to be for a very financially rewarding medical practice. His relationship with students is very cordial as you have no restrictions in speech when you are around him. He teaches, loves students who work hard and play hard as well. Vote the Lagos Dr, the Dr who typifies what residency should be like (in my own eyes o). vote Dr Odetayo of Obstetrics and gynecology department as resident of the year.

VOTE DR MAJEK AKANDE AS RESIDENT OF THE YEAR.
I believe residents are underappreciated as the bulk of the hospital work falls to them. They are doctors and students at the same time, they are the spine of any teaching hospital setting, the majority of what we learn in practical skills as medical students comes from the residents. In the midst of all these responsibility and stressful conditions, residents still find time to make for social interactions with students and a very good social interaction profile is what sets Dr. Majek apart. Jovial yet serious, playful yet stern when he needs to be. Dr Majek is the ideal resident. Definitely not lagging behind when it comes to ‘stuffing’ up medical students, an encounter with him yields brilliance dressed in banter. Still searching for his type of personality(I’m not a very good psychiatry student) but maybe ICD 13 will come up with the Majek personality or simply Unique personality. In a world where we hardly appreciate residents, Dr. Majek Akande deserves this award even if it is from medical students. He is the kind resident I hope to be one day. Vote Dr. Majek Akande of Psychiatry department as resident of the year LAUMSA health week awards.
                                             Resident of the year Award
Some ground rules.
I have no power over who wins what award at the health week dinner
Everything said is strictly my opinion and this platform is available for you to share yours
There are definitely no bad residents and I’m sure if the award committee(of which I am no part  of) have their way they would give all the residents the award.
Forgive my Osogbo bias as my three candidates are from the Osogbo arm of LAUTECH. It is just that I and infact most students feel at home there.
I have no personal out of hospital contact with any of these residents, all I’m going to say is based on the interaction within the hospital
My candidates are Dr. Majek Akande(Psychiatry department), Dr Odetayo(O and G department) and  Dr Kolawole (O and G department).
Over the next few days/ weeks I’ll be revealing why I feel each of them is deserving of the award.
I have none of their pictures so please you’ll be required to make up a mental picture of your own as I would be as detailed as possible.
Please vote them o.
