LAUTECH Shines in Medical student games.

The biennial Nigerian Medical Students Association games held admist pump and pagentry between 25th to 31st of August, 2014 at the Imo state University, Owerri. With a 44 team strong contingent comprising of 40 athletes and 4 officials.
 Lautech medical students' association put up a strong showing amongst the 12 participating medical schools which were, Anambra State University, Enugu state university, University of Nigeria, University of Port Harcourt, Nnamdi Azikwe University, University of Benin, Ahmadu Bello University, Lagos State University, University of Abuja, University of Calabar, and host school, Imo state University.
When it all ended LAUTECH had amassed 5 silver medals and 8 bronze medals and finished high on the medals table.  Talking to the education news correspondent, the president of the LAUTECH medical school association, Sen. Ismail Oladimeji hailed the performance of the athletes and commended them for doing so much despite the little motivation he could garner from the school authorities, he also said particpating in the games was vital and in compliance with his promises when he was elected president, he then advised whoever takes over to sustain the tempo as these kind of activities foster unity amongst medical students from different divides of the country, exercises the mind and sharpens intellect.

He thereafter called on the management of various medical schools in the country to encourage participation of their students in forthcoming games.
The school won silver medals in 5000 metres(Adeniyi Olumide), 800metres(Sanusi Teslim), 400 metres(Animasahun Busari), 4 X100metres(Adeola Jonathan,Animasaun Busari, Akinsiku Tolu and Sanusi Teslim.), and Shotput(Babalola Oyinade), with bronze medals coming from 5000metres(Akinyele Victor), 1500metres(Adeniyi Olumide), 800metres(Akinsiku Tolu), Discus, Javelin(Bewaji Muyiwa), Long jump(Udoka Onuegbo), Ludo(Oguntunde Boluwatife) and Scrabble(Ayemowa Damilola).
